“Yatsu-Giku” Shippō Charm – Kuro (Black), Large

Style No. K8200SSK

Handmade in Japan

A unique charm featuring a rare chrysanthemum crest with eight petals, crafted using the traditional Japanese openwork “Sukashi” technique. Yatsu-giku literally means “eight-petal chrysanthemum” in Japanese.

Measuring approximately 20mm in diameter and made of sterling silver (925), the master mold was designed by Junichi Kobashi and finished with a handmade vintage-style look. Each piece is cast by a family-run metal workshop in Tokyo, and the back is engraved with “Kobashi” in Japanese characters.

The center of the flower features handcrafted Shippō-yaki enamel, created by firing Japanese glass enamel onto a silver base at around 800°C for a glossy, vibrant finish. The enamel glazes are still handmade at a small workshop in Saitama, founded in 1967. The color Kuro (Black) represents a deep, traditional Japanese black, admired for its purity and quiet strength in Japanese aesthetics.

Shippō-yaki is a precious traditional Japanese craft with over 400 years of history. Celebrated worldwide in the early 20th century for its extraordinary craftsmanship, it has become increasingly rare today due to limited materials and a shortage of skilled artisans. This charm refines this historic technique for a modern design.

Comes with a Japanese pig suede pouch.
